Hi! I’m Abby (she/her). I write about science (and sometimes other things) and teach classes and lead workshops on communication for scientists.

Until June 2016, I was a postdoctoral fellow in Science & Society at Duke University, where I focused on getting scientists the communication tools they need to share their work with non-scientists. I have a PhD in biological sciences from Vanderbilt University, and I’ve been the editorial intern at The Scientist and a AAAS Mass Media Fellow at the Chicago Tribune, where I faced head-on the challenges of communicating science to a general audience and learned a boatload.

I also produce a podcast (not science-related), teach yoga, and spend time with my children and my spouse, a neuroscientist.

Feel free to send me an email and/or connect with me on Twitter!
